Marine drone questions.

Practical answers about vessels, water, inspection boundaries, permissions and Drone Lyne® deployment.

Potentially, subject to the vessel, speed, operating area, take-off and recovery method, crew coordination, permissions and environmental conditions. The operation requires a specific feasibility and risk assessment.

Water-resistant or task-specific aircraft can be selected where appropriate, but equipment choice does not remove the risks created by saltwater, wind, spray, vessel movement or recovery over water.

Accessible visible areas may include the hull above the waterline, superstructure, decks, masts, antennas, cranes, hatch covers and external equipment, subject to safe access and flight geometry.

Not with an aerial drone. Submerged hulls, propellers, piles and structures require divers, ROVs, sonar or another suitable underwater inspection method.

Internal or confined-space work requires purpose-built collision-tolerant equipment, suitable access and a separate operating method. It is assessed independently rather than assumed within an external marine flight.

The line or payload must be assessed for weight, dimensions, aerodynamic behaviour, attachment, release, distance and intended use. A feasibility review and testing determine whether a safe deployment method is possible.Find out more about Drone Lyne®

Outputs can include organised photography, video, annotated imagery, mapped products, 3D models or repeat condition records, securely shared online in the agreed format.
